Bernard Morris Dwork (May 27, 1923 – May 9, 1998) was an American mathematician, known for his application of p-adic analysis to local zeta functions, and in particular for the first general results on the Weil conjectures. Together with Kenkichi Iwasawa he received the Cole Prize in 1962.
Dwork received his Ph.D. at Columbia University in 1954 under direction of Emil Artin. Nick Katz was one of his students. He is the father of Deborah Dwork. They both received the Guggenheim Prize and are the only father-daughter set to ever have done so. Another daughter, Cynthia Dwork, received the Dijkstra Prize.
